ABOUT THE A.S.P.C.A.

The Association for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is an ANIMAL RIGHTS ORGANIZATION!

It is CAARE's opinion that the ASPCA prefers that the average American not know that it has a HIDDEN agenda and that we believe it is a welfare organization.  We believe the ASPCA deliberately seeks blur the line between animal welfare and animal rights to the point that the public will come to support an agenda that it would not otherwise support!  In point of fact, we are unable to find a single place on the ASPCA website that disclaims the animal rights agenda and/or movement.  There are, however, pages on its site that indicate its support of animal rights.

A known extremist group, the Animal Liberation Front (ALF), fully understands and appreciates the important role that the ASPCA, and similar groups, play in promoting the extremist animal rights agenda by soft-selling it.  This is evidenced by innumerable references to the ASPCA on the ALF website. The ASPCA itself states, "Become. an Animal Activist. Visit our lobby section to find out everything you can do to raise awareness for ANIMAL RIGHTS." in paragraph 9.  Another link on the ASPCA site clearly indicates their support of animal rights: ASPCA undercover ANIMAL RIGHTS rights investigator.

Quoting Americans for Medical Progress, "It’s sometimes difficult to distinguish between animal welfare and animal rights organizations.  Animal rights groups often hide their radical agendas behind language that emphasizes animal welfare initiatives.  This leads the unsuspecting to join or contribute without realizing the extreme views held by the leaders of these groups. One needs to be especially cautious as sometimes organizations that are primarily focused on animal welfare, such as the American Humane Association or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will, with all apparent good intentions to "help the animals," sign onto an animal rights campaign without independently discerning whether the claims are valid."

The ASPCA's true agenda is further is evidenced by:

(1) Their opposition to accepted animal husbandry practices as evidenced by a careful reading of their web pages relating to these practices. They oppose the use of some animals, like bison, elk, emu and horses, for emotional rather than logical reasons. They claim to support (albeit grudgingly) certain practices (debeaking of chickens, tail-docking of pigs, etc.) while stating that they want to prevent the "stress" and "distress" such animals may feel when confined or transported to slaughter -- while opposing the use of drugs.  At first glance this may seem reasonable but they really is to set impossible standards for factory famers.  Yes, the ASPCA's extremist leanings are sugar-coated but those leaning are patently obvious to anyone familiar with accepted animal husbandry practices.  If you are not convinced yet, Animal Liberation Front or the No Compromise websites to see how similar the ASPCA campaigns are to those of that extremist group!

(2) Their lawsuit against Ringling Brothers Circus AND ongoing campaign to bring financial ruin to that Circus, as evidenced by their webpage that states:

  • Don't go to the circus-unless it's one that doesn't feature any animal performers. Tell your friends, family and coworkers not to attend the circus, either.

  • When Ringling Bros. is in the area, write a letter to the editor of the local paper explaining why the circus should not be supported.

  • Contact the venue that will be hosting Ringling Bros.' show and ask them to withdraw the invitation or, at the very least, not to invite them back next year.

  • Talk to your kids about why circuses are cruel. Visit our children's website, ASPCA Animaland, for information about circuses that's written especially for kids.
